Raiders evaluate quarterback competition after loss to Cardinals in preseason

Summary

The Las Vegas Raiders fell 27-14 to the Arizona Cardinals in a preseason game on August 13, 2026. Despite the result, quarterback Fernando Mendoza showcased potential, throwing for 50 yards and a touchdown on his only drive. Coach Klint Kubiak indicated that Mendoza may receive more reps with the starting offense moving forward. Reports suggest that veteran Kirk Cousins remains the favorite for the starting position, but Mendoza's performance could change that outlook as preseason continues.
