Raiders name Kirk Cousins starting quarterback for season opener against Miami Dolphins

Las Vegas Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak announced Kirk Cousins as the starting quarterback for the season opener against the Miami Dolphins. Cousins secured the role over rookie Fernando Mendoza, who was the first overall pick in the draft. The decision follows a summer training period where Cousins maintained consistency without committing turnovers. Alongside the roster news, the Las Vegas Stadium Authority approved up to $75 million for renovations to Allegiant Stadium, which will improve pedestrian access to the Las Vegas Strip. Additionally, the Raiders signed Ronnie Bell, Azeez Ojulari, and Evan Neal to the practice squad while waiving Albert Okwuegbunam Jr., Jahfari Harvey, and Kamar Missouri. The team also placed Keyron Crawford on the injured reserve list.
