RailRiders defeat Red Wings in rain-shortened game to tie standings

The Rochester Red Wings dropped a 4-1 decision to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Wednesday in a game shortened to seven innings by rain at Innovative Field. Max Schuemann initiated the scoring with a solo home run in the first inning, and Duke Ellis added a two-run homer in the seventh to provide insurance. Rochester starter Jack Cebert took the loss, surrendering two runs on four hits over three innings of work. While the Red Wings collected six hits and avoided a shutout with a seventh-inning RBI double from Sam Petersen, they struggled with runners in scoring position. The result moves the RailRiders into a tie with the Red Wings for the top spot in the International League's second-half standings. Both teams have 10 games remaining in their regular season schedule.
