Raines football extends winning streak against Duval County public schools

Raines pushed its winning streak against Gateway Conference opponents to 21 games following a 21-12 victory over White on September 4. The Vikings, who forced five turnovers in the contest, have not lost to a conference rival since October 2022. While the current run covers nearly four years, it remains shorter than several historical marks in Jacksonville, including a 34-game streak held by the former Lee high school that concluded in 1963. Mandarin currently maintains a longer active unbeaten streak against county public schools, dating back to November 2021. Elsewhere, Beachside improved to 2-0 after Bennett Hunt orchestrated a late comeback to defeat Tocoi Creek 28-24 on September 7. The Barracudas converted two fourth downs on the final drive to secure the win in the storm-delayed Surf 'N' Turf Bowl.
