Rangers recall Freeman and add Gonzales ahead of upcoming games

The Texas Rangers have recalled infielder Cody Freeman and purchased the contract of Marco Gonzales from AAA Round Rock. To create roster space, the team optioned infielder Cam Cauley and pitcher Ben Peoples to AAA. The decision to bring back Freeman appears motivated by a desire for energy in the lineup, while Gonzales is expected to provide bullpen depth following Jacob deGrom's brief outing. Pitcher Luis Curvelo has been designated for assignment.
