RevPro omits Leon Slater match from streaming service broadcast

Because TNA is in a partnership with WWE, and because the matches that were impacted were all set to pit an AEW talent against a TNA one… there was a fair amount of conversation about it on the wrestle web. Leading up to AEW’s big stadium show in London yesterday (Aug. 30), there were a number of independent shows that happened in the United Kingdom. Leon Slater, who’s still with TNA for at least a few more weeks, faced Liam Slater (no relation) on RevPro’s big 14th Anniversary show Saturday. RevPro is an AEW partner, and streams shows like 14th Anniversary on the new MyAEW service. Unlike the matches from the earlier AEW/TNA-WWE flap, the Slater/Slater match did happen Saturday. It even streamed… everywhere but on the MyAEW service. On that platform, users reported getting a long “intermission” after FTR’s match. Why am I watching a video package about Oku and Mills ? Well, not directly. TNA’s Ross Forman told Wrestling Noticias: “TNA Wrestling was not involved with that event or match, including fans seeing said match or not seeing it.” And in the latest f4wonline Daily Update, Dave Meltzer wrote that RevPro’s owner/booker/announcer Andy Quildan told him: “… the Leon Slater vs. Liam Slater match will be put up on YouTube soon from yesterday’s RevPro show. There were no direct instructions not to air the match on MyAEW but to avoid problems since it involved a TNA wrestler, he made the call not to put it on MyAEW.” So there you have it. Quildan’s decision, and the Silva edict he based it on, disrupted the 14th Anniversary viewing experience for some fans, but everyone will now have a chance to see the match at some point for free. Much ado about nothing? Or are these issues still a sign of bigger problems in the pro wrestling world?
