Rick Cloninger earns Golfweek Player of the Month honors after summer run

Golfweek named Rick Cloninger its Player of the Month following a series of successful performances throughout the summer. The 69-year-old won the North & South Super Senior Amateur on Aug. 12 at Pinehurst Resort, finishing 6 under par across three rounds. His victory came four strokes ahead of Paul Simson. Cloninger also tied the course record of 62 at his home club, Fort Mill Golf Club, on July 31. His recent competitive appearances include an outing at the U.S. Senior Amateur held from Aug. 29 to Sept. 3 at Baltimore Country Club. Despite a long career that features multiple state mid-amateur titles, Cloninger maintains his focus on competitive play and continues to participate in both Senior and Super Senior events.
