Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene resumed his rehab assignment on Saturday, Aug. 29, with the Toledo Mud Hens following a right hamstring strain that placed him on the injured list on Aug. 12. After serving as the designated hitter during his first appearance, Greene is scheduled to start in left field on Sunday, Aug. 30, as part of a monitored return to play. Tigers manager AJ Hinch stated the organization intends to increase Greene's activity levels based on his physical performance. Eligible to return to the major league roster on Sept. 1, Greene could rejoin the Tigers as early as the middle of next week if no further setbacks occur. While Greene has been out, rookie outfielder Brett Callahan has filled a role on the big league roster, recording a.292 batting average across 27 plate appearances.
