Robert Lee High School maintains football tradition in rural Texas

Football remains a central fixture in the community of Robert Lee, Texas, where the high school Steers program draws consistent local support. Head coach and athletic director Lee McCown, who played for the team three decades ago, oversees a program that relies on community engagement and student leadership. During the previous season, the Steers achieved a program-best playoff run, reaching the quarterfinals against Water Valley High School after dominant performances against Ira and Valley. Despite last season's eventual exit, town officials and local residents continue to organize events and fundraisers to support the roster. The team is currently on a bye week and is scheduled to host Sterling City on September 18 at 7:30 p.m.
