Ruidoso Downs moves major Quarter Horse racing series to Lone Star Park

The Quarter Horse Triple Crown Series will relocate to Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas, beginning in 2027. Ruidoso Downs owners Johnny and Jana Trotter, alongside Global Gaming Solutions, reached an agreement to move the racing series, the All-American Super Select Sale, and the Ruidoso Downs Hall of Fame to the Texas venue. The decision follows the closure of the Ruidoso Downs facility due to the 2024 South Fork and Salt fires and subsequent flash flooding. There is currently no projected timeline for the Ruidoso Downs track to reopen to the public. The Triple Crown includes the Ruidoso Futurity, the Rainbow Futurity, and the All-American Futurity, which is recognized as the world's richest quarter horse race. While the first two legs were hosted at the Downs at Albuquerque this summer, the long-term move to Texas aims to secure the future of these established racing traditions.
