Running back Hollywood Smothers joins Texas offense alongside Arch Manning

Transfer running back Hollywood Smothers has integrated into the Texas football offense to play alongside quarterback Arch Manning. Smothers, a former All-ACC selection at NC State, joined the Longhorns as part of a roster push to add depth and speed to the team. He made his debut for Texas on Sept. 5 in a season-opening victory against Texas State. During that game, Smothers rushed 10 times for 70 yards and recorded a receiving touchdown, including a 45-yard run on his opening snap. He previously played at Oklahoma in 2023 and NC State in 2025, where he tallied 939 rushing yards before entering the transfer portal. Steve Sarkisian added Smothers to the roster specifically to enhance the explosiveness of the Longhorns' offensive attack.
