Russell Westbrook returns to OKC for stadium groundbreaking ceremony

Russell Westbrook participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for a new multipurpose stadium in Oklahoma City on June 1, 2026. The stadium, which is set to open in 2028, will serve as a venue for local soccer and football teams, as well as concerts and other events. Westbrook, a former Thunder player, partnered with Christian Kanady, whose Echo Investment Capital will help develop the surrounding stadium district. The $121 million project is funded by MAPS 4 and will be located just south of Bricktown.
