Ryan Browne throws three touchdowns in Purdue season opening victory

Purdue opened its college football season with a 44-19 victory over Indiana State on Friday night in West Lafayette, Indiana. Quarterback Ryan Browne completed 23 of 29 passes for a career-high 317 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Boilermakers' offense. Purdue built a 16-6 halftime lead before scoring 28 unanswered points, including a 35-yard interception return by Don Saunders early in the fourth quarter. Transfer running back Fame Ijeboi added 87 rushing yards and a touchdown in his team debut. Indiana State quarterback Brady Allen threw for 117 yards and a touchdown in the final period during relief of Elijah Owens. Purdue finished the game with 523 total yards while overcoming nine penalties. The Boilermakers return to the field on September 12 to host Wake Forest.
