Salina Regional Airport hosts U.S. National Aerobatic Championships in late September

The U.S. National Aerobatic Championships return to Salina Regional Airport from Sept. 20 to 25. More than 100 pilots will compete in eight categories spanning powered aircraft and gliders. Unofficial practice sessions begin Sept. 16, followed by official practice on Sept. 18. Official contest flights commence at noon on Sept. 20 and will continue daily during daylight hours. The event concludes with freestyle flights on the afternoon of Sept. 25 featuring music and smoke maneuvers. While no official public viewing area is designated, the airport has hosted the competition annually since 2019.
