Lowry, who competed in the previous three editions of the event, has dropped in the world rankings to 53rd throughout 2026. European captain Luke Donald has organized a meeting for 16 prospective team members at the venue to gain familiarity with the course. Donald noted that potential changes to the professional golf structure could influence player availability and the qualification process. The captain expects that players like Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton, who may participate in more events where points are available, will strengthen the qualification race.
