Six golfers earn final spots for 126th U.S. Open

Six golfers secured the last available spots in the 156-man field for the 126th U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills, beginning Thursday. Bud Cauley qualified by moving into the top 60 of the Official World Golf Ranking. Hennie du Plessis, Harry Higgs, Bryan Lee, Jack Schoenberger, and Spencer Tibbits filled the remaining positions through playoff performances in their respective final qualifiers. Cauley will make his fourth U.S. Open start, while du Plessis, Higgs, Lee, Schoenberger, and Tibbits will be making their debuts or returning after previous attempts. J.J. Spaun is the defending champion.
