Sofia Rivera of St. Augustine claimed victory over Erin Lee of San Ramon, Calif., in the first round of the U.S. Junior Girls Championship on July 15. Rivera won 1-up with a par on the 18th hole at Old Chatham Golf Club in Durham, N.C. The match featured four consecutive halved holes, with Lee taking the lead twice before Rivera evened it at No. 11 and then surged ahead with a par at No. 12. Rivera, who qualified by tying for 11th in the stroke-play qualifier, will face Maria Isabella Errichetto of Colombia in the next round on July 16.
