Somerset defeats Leicestershire to maintain County Championship title hopes

Somerset secured a 377-run victory over Leicestershire at Uptonsteel Grace Road on the third day of their County Championship Division One fixture. Somerset declared their second innings at 316-5, setting a target of 523 for Leicestershire to reach. Henry Nicholls hit an unbeaten century during the session, which forced Leicestershire back into the field before the declaration. Leicestershire were subsequently bowled out for 145 in their second innings. Craig Overton led the Somerset bowling attack with 4-33, while Jack Leach claimed late wickets to close out the match with more than a day to spare. This result keeps Somerset in contention for the county title with two rounds of fixtures remaining in the season.
