Sonia Deckert plays for Bolivian national softball team

Sonia Deckert, a Sioux Falls native, is representing the Bolivian national softball team after completing her citizenship process in one month. The journey sparked from her father's discovery of the team while searching online. With support from her family and coach Alex Camacho, Deckert aims to promote softball in Bolivia, a country where the sport is still developing. Her grandmother, originally from Bolivia, accompanied them, further connecting Deckert to her heritage.
