Speaker Mike Johnson offers mediation in LSU conflict with the SEC

The conflict arose from LSU's efforts under head coach Lane Kiffin to add players who had previously signed professional contracts and participated in NFL training camps. While a court ruling recently allowed for increased college eligibility, the SEC has maintained that member schools should not recruit players who have already entered the professional ranks. Although LSU has since opted not to add Dae’Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris to its roster, the broader membership dispute remains unresolved. SEC leadership continues to evaluate the situation, with reports indicating that a potential expulsion would require support from at least 11 conference schools.
