Spencer Strider of the Atlanta Braves is sidelined for four weeks due to inflammation in his right elbow. The team announced the decision on June 15 after Strider consulted with Dr. Keith Meister. Strider had recently been placed on the 15-day injured list following a start against the New York Mets where he experienced discomfort and a notable decline in pitching velocity. He will undergo another MRI at the end of the four weeks to assess the inflammation. If cleared, he can begin a throwing progression. Rookie JR Ritchie is set to take Strider’s place in the rotation.
