St. John's defeats UW-La Crosse 24-21 in season opener

St. John's opened its football season with a 24-21 victory over UW-La Crosse on Friday in Collegeville, Minnesota. Quarterback Trey Feeney led the offensive effort, completing 36 of 51 passes for 386 yards and three touchdowns. The team relied on a wide distribution of targets, with receivers Corey Bohmhert, Thomas Jacobs, and Charlie Plum each recording at least seven receptions. After taking a 17-10 lead into halftime, St. John's secured the win with a late fourth-quarter touchdown pass from Feeney to Andrew Harren. The Johnnies successfully used their ground game to run out the clock following an onside recovery in the final minutes. The team enters a bye week before hosting Hamline on September 19.
