St. John’s men’s basketball signs Zsombor Maronka after Freeman injury

St. John’s University has signed Hungarian forward Zsombor Maronka to replace the injured Donnie Freeman. Freeman suffered a season-ending Achilles injury less than three weeks ago. Maronka, a 6-foot-10 power forward, previously played for Hamburg Towers in Germany, averaging 7.1 points and 4.0 rebounds. He joins a roster that features eight other international players. Maronka’s addition is possible under new NCAA rules which exempt injured players from roster limits.
