St. Vincent-St. Mary community celebrates new synthetic turf installation

The St. Vincent-St. Mary community held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 5 to unveil the newly installed synthetic turf at the VanDevere Automotive Family Stadium. Football coach Marcus Wattley Sr. expressed excitement about the upgrade, highlighting its usefulness for the team. Athletic director Mark Hassman noted that the renovation provides a fresh atmosphere for the community, coinciding with the introduction of a new coaching staff. The stadium was blessed by Rev. Norm Douglas before the ceremony, which included participation from the high school's cheerleaders and band. The Fighting Irish are set to host their home opener against Nordonia on August 21.
