Steelers owner inspects Acrisure Stadium field before season opener against Falcons

Pittsburgh Steelers owner Art Rooney II and senior vice president of stadium operations Jim Sacco inspected the surface at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday prior to the team's Week 1 game against the Atlanta Falcons. The venue is shared with the University of Pittsburgh, which played a home game at the site against the University of Central Florida on Saturday. The field recently underwent resurfacing to prepare for the back-to-back usage on the North Shore. Acrisure Stadium’s turf has faced scrutiny in previous seasons due to maintenance concerns and player safety questions regarding the surface conditions. The Steelers and Falcons are scheduled to play the season opener at the facility shortly following the inspection.
