Steelers sign 13 players to practice squad following final roster cuts

Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Omar Khan confirmed 13 players signed to the team's practice squad on Monday, August 31. The signings followed the team's reduction of the active roster to the league-mandated 53-man limit. Running backs Lew Nichols and Travis Homer, receivers Max Hurleman and Brandon Smith, and tight end Lake McRee are among the group. Defensive linemen Esezi Otomewo and Kyler Baugh, cornerback Doneiko Slaughter, safety Sebastian Castro, and offensive linemen Doug Nester and Steven Jones also accepted spots. Linebackers Jacoby Windmon and Julius Welschof complete the current list, with Welschof occupying an international pathway exemption. The Steelers may add up to four more players to the practice squad before their Week 1 opener against the Atlanta Falcons on September 13 at Acrisure Stadium.
