Stephanie McMahon discusses family ties to Donald Trump on podcast

Wallenfang/Getty Images Stephanie McMahon recently welcomed Chuck Zito on her podcast, What’s Your Story?, and the two spoke about President Donald Trump a couple of times during the lengthy interview. Zito covered a lot of topics related to his wide range of accomplishments, which includes being a member of the Hell’s Angels for decades, working as a celebrity bodyguard, and then branching out into Hollywood to star in dozens of films and television shows such as Oz and Sons of Anarchy. Zito also made appearances in WCW in the late 1990s, and recently he was the subject of a documentary, Chuck Zito: An American Story, which he said will be released soon on Amazon Prime. While speaking of the documentary, Zito noted that Trump appears in the project. Before he brought up the president, though, Stephanie mentioned Trump while they were talking about the downsides of everyone now having smartphones with cameras. According to McMahon, she and her husband, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque, were harassed by people who expressed anti-Trump sentiments while they were on the way to the Republican’s first presidential inauguration. “So we were — Paul and I — were at the train station when Trump was first elected,” McMahon began, before noting her mother, former WWE executive Linda McMahon, was at the time Trump’s pick to head the U.S. Small Business Administration. Stephanie continued: “It was incredible, right? The opportunity to be there for the inauguration.” She then said that while waiting at the busy train station to get to the event, a group of people recognized her husband and were “trying to incite us,” because they were “against my mom and just anything to do with the administration.” “So, they were really trying to incite him [Levesque] to get mad, and everybody had their cameras out. And luckily nothing happened, but I could feel how the pressure of it,” McMahon said. She pointedly added that she doesn’t “really talk politics” and respects “everyone’s opinion.” Zito soon said, “You got to remember, I’m friends with the president for over 40 years.” “Yeah, same with my parents,” McMahon interjected. “Because WrestleMania was at Trump Tower in [New] Jersey in Atlantic City back to back. I think it was WrestleMania IV and WrestleMania V, if I remember correctly. And that was where their relationship first started.” As Stephanie noted, Trump hosted the two WrestleManias, though the events took place inside the Atlantic City Convention Hall, which was billed as Trump Plaza. Trump was also featured in an infamous angle with Stephanie’s father, then-WWE boss Vince McMahon, decades later that culminated culminated in the “Battle of the Billionaires” match at WrestleMania 23 that saw Bobby Lashley (representing Trump) defeat Umaga (wrestling on behalf of Vince). For his work with the promotion, Trump was inducted into the celebrity wing of WWE’s Hall of Fame in 2013. Meanwhile, Linda McMahon now serves as Trump’s secretary of education, and Trump appointed Levesque as vice chair of the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition in 2025. In his advisory committee role, Triple H has made various public appearances on behalf of the administration. One of his most recent visits to the White House came in June when he was photographed with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns at the UFC Freedom 250 on the South Lawn of the White House.
