Strength of schedule does not correlate with fantasy football scoring

Data analytics covering the 2022 through 2025 seasons indicate that strength of schedule calculations hold little predictive power for fantasy football performance. An analysis of the 20 teams with the easiest schedules entering each of the last four seasons shows they averaged a middling rank of 16.2 in offensive yards and offensive points. Conversely, teams with the toughest schedules during that same timeframe performed slightly better on average, recording an offensive-yardage rank of 13.9 and an offensive-points rank of 14.0. Only 15 percent of teams with the easiest schedules finished in the top five for offensive yards, while 20 percent finished in the bottom five. These findings suggest that relying on strength of schedule projections when drafting players provides no consistent advantage for fantasy participants. The study concludes that schedule difficulty alone fails to serve as an accurate measure of a team's potential offensive output or individual player success.
