Sunderland agree to loan Tottenham defender Kevin Danso

Sunderland secured a deal to sign Kevin Danso from Tottenham on a season-long loan. The agreement includes an option for the Black Cats to make the transfer permanent. This move follows initial resistance from Tottenham, which had previously rejected a loan proposal for the 27-year-old Austria international. The deal became possible after Tottenham finalized plans to sign defender Tosin Adarabioyo from Chelsea. Tottenham was unwilling to release Danso until they secured a replacement in their defensive line. Danso joined Tottenham from Lens in January 2025 and subsequently signed a permanent deal with the club later that year.
