What they're saying

During Swerve Strickland’s interview this week on Hot 97’s Morning with Mero, the host brought up the controversial spot from AEW All Out 2024 where Hangman Page jabbed the inside of Swerve’s mouth with a syringe in their main event steel cage match. Strickland was quick to point out that the syringe spot wasn’t the dumbest thing he’s ever done in AEW. It doesn’t compare to being power bombed on an actual cinder block. “That wasn’t as bad as getting powerbombed on the cinder block. That was a full on, real cinder block. That was probably the worst thing I’ve ever done. I was like, never again.” Swerve pretty much admitted he has to turn off his brain in order to do something so stupid. “Nothing! It has to empty. I have to empty my mind, because I can’t have any other thoughts. I’m like, do it before I just say no. Do it now. Because there’s a time and window before I come to my realization that this is stupid.” The key to Swerve’s recovery mostly comes down to a heating pad. “There is no real recovery. It’s heating pad, ice, lay down. I try to avoid pills as much as possible. I try to, because I want to try to find some remedy that doesn’t require medication, or abusing it.” Did you think the cinder block spots in AEW were gimmicked in some way? What’s your reaction to Swerve calling it the worst thing he’s ever done? Let me know in the comments below, Cagesiders.
