Tara Davis-Woodhall ends 2026 season following car crash concussion

Olympic long jump champion Tara Davis-Woodhall has announced the end of her 2026 season following a diagnosis of a severe concussion. The 27-year-old athlete sustained the injury during a head-on vehicle collision in August while driving to a training session. Although the injuries were initially described as non-life-threatening, the crash resulted in the total loss of both vehicles involved. Consequently, Davis-Woodhall will be unable to participate in the upcoming World Athletics Ultimate Championship scheduled to take place in Hungary starting September 11. The three-day event will feature Olympic and world champions competing for a top prize of £111,000. Davis-Woodhall, who secured gold in Paris in 2024 and in Tokyo the following year, stated on social media that she intends to return to competition in the future.
