Tarik Skubal's future uncertain as MLB trade deadline approaches

Summary

Tarik Skubal made his final appearance for the Detroit Tigers on July 30, 2026, against an unspecified opponent. The two-time Cy Young winner struck out his 1,000th batter but could be moving ahead of the MLB trade deadline on August 3, with the Tigers seeking significant prospects in return. After a seven-run lead evaporated and the Tigers lost the game, they fell to 51-58, four games behind in the American League wild card race. The situation puts added pressure on Detroit to make decisions regarding their star pitcher.
