Texas volleyball drops to eighth in AVCA poll after split with SEC rivals

Texas volleyball ranks eighth in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association poll after splitting matches during their SEC opening weekend. The Longhorns (5-5, 1-1) achieved a reverse sweep against No. 13 Tennessee but were swept by No. 3 Kentucky. Previously unranked Utah entered the poll at No. 21 after upsetting No. 21 Colorado. Texas will face Mississippi State in their SEC home opener at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Gregory Gymnasium.
