The Green Bay Packers name Zaire Franklin and four others team captains

The Green Bay Packers selected five team captains ahead of the upcoming season. Linebacker Zaire Franklin, who joined the team via trade in March, earned a leadership role despite his status as a newcomer. Franklin previously served as a captain for the Colts for six consecutive seasons. He joins four returning captains from the 2025 roster: quarterback Jordan Love, tight end Tucker Kraft, safety Xavier McKinney, and special teamer Isaiah McDuffie. Three former captains from last year are absent from the current leadership group. Rashan Gary and Quay Walker are no longer with the organization, while Josh Jacobs remains on the commissioner’s exempt list during an investigation into an accusation of violence against a woman.
