The State Journal-Register opens athlete of the week voting for local athletes

The State Journal-Register has opened public voting for its athlete of the week poll covering the period of Sept. 7-12. The weekly initiative, sponsored by Heartland Credit Union, highlights standout performances from high school students across the Springfield area. Nominees include Tony Boyd Jr., Amelia Hayes, Cal Hinds, Hannah Holliday, Terrion Jackson, Grant Kutscher, Evrim Tabag, Connor Mabus, Nolan Meyer, and Austin Rutter. Participants represent various sports, including football, soccer, and volleyball. The poll remains open for community participation until noon on Friday, Sept. 18. Winners from previous weeks have included Elijah Patton, Rylan Rees, and Mackenzie Mehochko.
