Thomas Wendel and Caroline Vines receive SUNY Potsdam athlete of the week honors

SUNY Potsdam named junior forward Thomas Wendel and senior goalkeeper Caroline Vines as its athletes of the week for the period ending September 6, 2026. Wendel earned the recognition after totaling three points during a 1-1-1 week for the men’s soccer team, which included an assist against Nazareth and a decisive goal in the home opener against Keuka. Vines recorded two shutouts and a 0.67 goals-against average during the same stretch for the women’s soccer team. She led all SUNYAC goalies in both saves and shutouts, highlighted by a career-high 14 saves in a 0-0 draw against Utica. Vines also anchored the defense in a 2-0 victory over Vermont State-Johnson.
