Thoroughbred stallion Trippi dies in South Africa at age 29

Trippi, a prominent racehorse for Dogwood Stable, died recently in South Africa at age 29. Purchased for $65,000 in 1999, the horse secured seven victories in 14 career starts, earning $666,220. His most notable success arrived in 2000 at Belmont Park, where he won the Vosburgh Stakes. Following a brief racing career, he transitioned to a successful tenure as a stallion, eventually relocating to Drakenstein Stud in South Africa in 2008. He earned the title of South Africa’s champion sire during the 2015/2016 season and sired more than 90 stakes winners. His legacy continues through his offspring, including the sire Not This Time and multiple stakes-winning descendants like Liam’s Map and Napoleon Solo.
