Three Americans reach quarterfinals at 2026 British Amateur

Kihei Akina, the 2026 Phil Mickelson Award winner, along with Matt Moloney and Reed Arnaldo, advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2026 British Amateur at Royal Liverpool. Akina defeated Sweden's Jakob Melin 1 up, while Moloney topped Arthur Carlier of France in 24 holes. Arnaldo secured his spot after winning his Round of 16 match in 23 holes. The last time American golfers won back-to-back British Amateurs was 50 years ago. The quarterfinals are scheduled for Friday, and the winner earns exemptions into the Open Championship and 2027 Masters and U.S. Open if they remain an amateur.
