The Detroit Tigers have designated Jahmai Jones for assignment and promoted Eduardo Valencia from Triple-A Toledo. This decision follows Jones' struggles this season, with the team opting to ensure adequate depth after Dillon Dingler's hand contusion. Dingler is expected to avoid the injured list but may need a brief rest ahead of the All-Star break. Valencia will make his major league debut after a strong performance in the minors, where he hit 16 home runs this season and showed promising offensive potential against left-handed pitching. His defensive role will be actively developed, primarily at first base and catching.
