Tigers pitcher Jack Flaherty may begin rehab assignment this weekend

Tigers manager AJ Hinch indicated that right-hander Jack Flaherty could start a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo as early as this weekend. The team will assess the pitcher's condition following a bullpen session completed on September 4. Flaherty has been sidelined while recovering from a flexor tendon strain. Although he intends to return to the active roster, Flaherty acknowledged that the remaining time in the season limits his ability to build toward a full starter's pitch count. The Mud Hens are scheduled to host Indianapolis throughout the upcoming weekend.
