Tigers provide updates on Riley Greene, Justin Verlander injuries

Summary

The Detroit Tigers announced positive news regarding Riley Greene and Justin Verlander during their medical update on August 28. All-Star outfielder Greene participated in base running drills and may play for Triple-A Toledo this weekend as he recovers from a right hamstring strain. Manager AJ Hinch indicated that Verlander, sidelined since April with hip and hamstring injuries, has begun throwing off a slope and is progressing towards bullpen sessions. In contrast, outfielder Matt Vierling was recently shut down due to heel soreness after nearing a rehab stint for an adductor strain. The Tigers are scheduled to start a new series against the Twins on Monday.
