Today in Celtics history: Scalabrine signs, Stiemsma leaves, Walker traded

On August 2, 2005, the Boston Celtics signed Brian Scalabrine to a five-year, $15 million deal. Scalabrine, known as the "White Mamba," came from the New Jersey Nets, where he played four seasons before joining Boston. On the same date, Greg Stiemsma departed the Celtics for the Minnesota Timberwolves after averaging 2.9 points and 3.2 rebounds during his single season in Boston. The Celtics also traded Antoine Walker to the Miami Heat in exchange for several players and future draft picks, concluding Walker's second stint with the team, where he recorded averages of 16.3 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 3.7 assists that previous season.
