MEXICO CITY, MEXICO - SEPTEMBER 11: Trick Williams enters ring during SmackDown at Arena Ciudad de Mexico on September 11, 2026 in Mexico City, Mexico. (Photo by Meg Oliphant/WWE via Getty Images) | WWE via Getty Images The Money in the Bank qualifying matches are well underway, and Friday Night SmackDown finally got in on the action this week in Corpus Christi, Texas. We were given an interesting triple threat match on the men’s side to decide the next participant in the ladder match on Oct. 10, 2026, at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. Randy Orton, who has said he’s coming for the WWE championship ASAP because he’s so impossibly thirsty for title reign number 15, took on Trick Williams, who is the reigning United States champion, and Rey Fenix, who is the reigning AAA World Cruiserweight champion. You got the main event star in Orton, the rising star in Trick, and the uber talent willing to fly around to make the most of it in Fenix. The match lived up to exactly that. Fenix deserves all the praise in the world, as he kept his streak of fantastic matches rolling. He was also the guy who made it all work at the finish — he went up top, came flying off the turnbuckle and right into an RKO. Williams was right there to follow up with a Trick Shot on Orton, getting him out of the way so he could pin Fenix. Just like that, he advanced. The Money in the Bank ladder match now includes Williams, Je’Von Evans, and Bron Breakker. Yeah, this one is going to be great already.
