Triple H outlines long-term plans for WWE events in the Pacific Islands

Next month, WWE is running its first show in Hawaii in years. A couple weeks ago, WWE quietly added Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to an advertisement for their tryouts around two non-televised live events (aka house sh0ws) in Honolulu on Oct. 16-17. If Johnson does show up in his grandmother’s territory for those tryouts, it will be his first WWE appearance since John Cena’s infamous heel turn at Elimination Chamber in March 2025. A busy schedule has kept the TKO Board member and Golden Globe-nominated actor away since then… along with rumors of behind-the-scenes tension with his long-time rival Triple H, who (working his Paul Levesque gimmick) is now WWE’s Chief Content Officer. There’s only one mention of The Rock in Triple H’s interview with Honolulu’s KHON2 News, and it’s about Johnson’s long-time connection to the islands and those islands tremendous influence on pro wrestling. But Haitch’s promise to make Hawaii and the other islands of the Pacific a “home” for WWE certainly could be seen as another sign that Johnson and Levesque could be working together again soon: “It’s going to be amazing. We haven’t been there since 2019… This is exciting for us, and this isn’t a one-time deal. We’re not just coming there now, we’re going to be coming there on a regular basis. We’re going to make sure that we have our feet back [on] the ground in Hawaii, where they always should’ve been, where our roots are. “That’s why we are looking for that next generation too. We want to ensure that the Pacific Islands remain a home for us for years to come.” The latest reports indicate that while Johnson may have heat with TKO in addition to whatever is going on with him and Triple H, he is still expected to be back at some point, just not for a match at WrestleMania 43. My supposition that this is part of WWE/TKO’s olive branch to Rock could fit in with those reports. Or am I just a blogger desperate to give some greater meaning to standard promoter hype?
