Ty France records 20 home runs for San Diego Padres this season

Former Toronto Blue Jays infielder Ty France has emerged as a key contributor for the San Diego Padres during the 2026 season. After limited playing time in 38 games with Toronto before entering free agency in November 2025, France has posted a 3.1 WAR and hit 20 home runs over 114 games with his new club. Only Fernando Tatis Jr. holds a higher WAR among San Diego players. The Toronto Blue Jays, currently contending for an American League Wild Card spot, have struggled to find consistent power production from their lineup. The team recently concluded a series against the Cleveland Guardians with a 6-3 win on Thursday and is scheduled to begin a series against the Kansas City Royals on Friday, September 4th. France remains a central piece of the San Diego roster as the Padres prepare for upcoming games against the New York Yankees.
