University at Buffalo defeated Albany 21-17 in a season opener that concluded early Thursday morning at Broadview Stadium. The game was delayed by nearly three hours due to rain and lightning, pushing the final whistle to 1:25 a.m. Chance Morrow recorded three touchdown receptions, including the game-winner with 4:53 remaining in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Elijah Holmes finished with 189 passing yards and three touchdowns in his first Division I appearance. The UB defense secured the victory with a late fourth-down stop near the goal line. The Bulls will next face Florida International a week from Saturday before traveling to play Penn State on Sept. 19.
