Van Mathias returns to competition at Pan Pacific Championships

Van Mathias makes his U.S. senior national team debut at the Pan Pacific Championships in Irvine, California. After a two-year hiatus from swimming, he has transformed into the fastest American breaststroker in history. Mathias previously swam at the Junior Pan Pacific Championships in 2018 and later retired from competition, but he returned to the sport after taking a role as director of operations for the Indiana University swim and dive program.
