VandenBerg and Johnson share lead at Golfweek Senior National Championship

Kevin VandenBerg and Yancey Johnson are tied for the lead following the first round of the Golfweek Senior National Championship at Benvenue Country Club in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, with both finishing at even-par 72. VandenBerg, currently ranked at the top of the Golfweek National Senior Amateur Rankings, started strong with two birdies in his first three holes. Johnson, who recently notched a top-10 finish at the U.S. Senior Challenge, also had an eventful round featuring two birdies alongside four bogeys. Defending champion Bryan Hoops trails at 3-over 75. Bob Beck leads the Super Senior division with a 2-over 74, while Terry Tyson paces the Legends division after a 1-under opening round.
