Vanderbilt utilizes Jared Curtis and Blaze Berlowitz in win over Austin Peay

Vanderbilt opened its football season on September 5 with a 28-9 victory against Austin Peay at FirstBank Stadium. Coach Clark Lea employed both Jared Curtis and Blaze Berlowitz at quarterback throughout the game. Berlowitz recorded 149 passing yards and 45 rushing yards with one touchdown, leading two scoring drives. Curtis finished with 60 passing yards and 22 rushing yards across three drives that did not result in points. Lea noted that the offensive schemes differed between the two, with Berlowitz operating in a more traditional, run-heavy spread system while Curtis appeared in a faster-tempo attack. Neither quarterback committed a turnover or suffered a sack during the contest. Lea stated he will continue to feature both players until one demonstrates he can better assist the team's objective of winning.
