Vikings expected to move on from JJ McCarthy amid competition
Summary

The Minnesota Vikings are predicted to part ways with quarterback JJ McCarthy after a preseason competition. Following a practice session on August 25 where McCarthy and Carson Wentz split QB2 repetitions, analysts suggest McCarthy's roster spot is at risk. Vikings could attempt to trade McCarthy, who has a guaranteed salary through 2027, but a weak market for quarterbacks may force them to waive him instead. Head coach Kevin O’Connell stated the backup quarterback position remains open amid the ongoing competition.
